No coding or programming knowledge needed!

Before I started studying digital marketing and web development, to me WordPress was just a distant concept that related to websites, and that allowed users to somehow self administer a site. However, when I started learning the complexities of HTML, CSS and JAVASCRIPT computer languages, the notion of WordPress appear out of necessity, since I needed to be able to use a system that avoided much coding or that require that started a website from scratch .

What is WordPress?

WordPress is a system that started as a platform for creating blogs, however nowadays many small and big companies use it in all kinds of businesses and industries. This system can be categorized as an open source Content Management System, since it allows users to manage a site’s content and its free to use. In essence, WordPress allows users to use somewhat simple menus, to update or edit a website, without needing much or any programming or coding knowledge.

One of the very cool concepts regarding WordPress is that is considered an open source software, which is defined as “a type of computer software in which source code is released under a license in which the copyright holder grants users the rights to study, change, and distribute the software to anyone and for any purpose “. This means that anyone can use WordPress for free, and everyone is welcome to add value by improving or developing the platform further. A mention has to be made in the sense that there are also paid products around WordPress, however, there is an abundance of great free resources.

One of the biggest PLUSES that WordPress has, is the ability to add plugins that will give a particular website extra functionality.
